LOWRY GOT A RING BEFORE CP3
[–]BraveSerOnions 794 points an hour ago
So happy for Gasol. Sad to see him leave, but Toronto treated him great and he finally got his ring.
[–]Celtics ImSeagull 2732 points an hour ago
Toronto needed people to step up this game and holy shit did they. Siakam, Lowry and VanVleet getting over 20 was the biggest reason for the Raptors winning tonight.
Congrats Raptors, after all the years of Lebron dad dicking you, you guys deserve this.
[–]Trail Blazers axel360 244 points an hour ago
Freddy had his moments, but the key was balance. 5 guys scored 15+, 4 scored 22+, yet no one scored more than 26
[–]Raptors FetchFrosh 520 points an hour ago
VanVleet was amazing. So hyped to see him step up like that!
[–]Warriors manisier 38 points an hour ago
He's a legitimate star. If you play like this on the biggest stage you're a real one
[–]AveragelyGreat 5236 points an hour ago*
Shoutout VanVleet for some fucking baller clutch shots in the 4th keeping the Raptors in it
[–]Warriors leftistesticle_2 1351 points an hour ago
He was the difference
[–]Raptors cozeners 502 points an hour ago*
He was the quiet MVP of this whole playoff. So sick in the clutch.
Edit: ok, half the playoffs is more accurate.

Seriously, what're the odds of someone else's luck beating that run? Just retire, wear that title like a crown, spend the rest of your life being a diva about it, and he'll be on that Kardashian road to success.

MASAI HAS WON THE BIGGEST GAMBLE OF HIS LIFE.

[–]Raptors PickAndTroll 179 points an hour ago
I need to see Masai doing the big balls dance asap
[–]Raptors StatGAF 1019 points an hour ago
Has there ever been a bigger gamble by a GM? Like that's a fireable offences if the Raptors lost in the first round and Kawhi leaves
[–][MIL] Bill Zopf FKJVMMP 577 points an hour ago
Yes, have we forgotten the Billy King Nets already?
This might be the biggest successful gamble though.
[–]Raptors StatGAF 222 points an hour ago
Yeah, I'm trying to think of successful gambles of just insane. Part of the job is making gambles but trading the franchise player who wanted to stay for a guy who could leave and wouldn't even do a press conference for a few weeks. It was such a risk
[–]Bulls Neat_On_The_Rocks 47 points an hour ago
Hands down the biggest successful gamble of all time. This whole finals I’m watching them and just like Jesus Christ the balls of this man to put this team together. I mean they won the finals and he might STILL leave.
And they did it. It worked. It was worth it. They won. Madness.
[–]Lakers blaisec00 128 points an hour ago
I imagine teams will have a lot less hesitation trading for superstars going forward because of this
[–]Pistons darkostwin 4121 points an hour ago
I would pay to watch how Kawhi celebrates winning this NBA finals

While with the spurs, Kawhi was known for his love of red apples. One time after practice everyone decided to go out for a team dinner. When it was his turn to order, Kawhi waived off the waiter and instead pulled out a bag of 12 apples. Coach Popovich asked what he was doing and Kawhi simply replied, "Apple time, apple time." He then ate all 12 apples with a knife and fork.

There will be no three-peats on Kawhi Leonard's watch.
[–]Raptors twistedlogicx 1104 points 2 hours ago
Kawhi's first point of the 4th quarter: A technical free throw with 0.9 seconds remaining in the series.
[–]Lakers hoopaholik91 380 points an hour ago*
Truly a team effort this series. Everyone who touched the ball on the Raps was trusted to score. Problem with the Warriors was that Steph could play through as many doubles as he wanted, but when the ball circled around to Dray or Iggy or Cook you couldn't trust them to hit the shot.
[–]DSTREET45 77 points an hour ago
I get what you mean but didn't Iggy have like 20 points?
[–]Lakers thoth2[ ] 5188 points an hour ago
So will they visit the White House or Buckingham Palace? Technically the Queen of England is the Head of State of Canada.
[–]AlphaSierraLima 3850 points an hour ago
Kawahi gets knighted
[–]RainDancingChief 76 points an hour ago
I would imagine they go to Ottawa and meet the PM and maybe Governor General (Technically the Queen's Rep in Canada).

ILL NEVER FORGIVE MELO FOR THAT SIDE EYE SHIT HE PULLED ON HIM
[–]Magic TEFL_job_seeker 556 points an hour ago
Lin will forever have more rings than Melo
[–]Knicks TheVegetaMonologues 147 points an hour ago
Lin, Shumpert, and JR all have them lol
[–]Hornets wickod124 421 points an hour ago
Jeremy Lin has won more championships than Melo, CP3, and Charles Barkley combined.
[–]XHF2 503 points an hour ago
Strange journey to see him go from team to team, to eventually end up in Toronto and somehow get a ring.
[–]Orange Klip 147 points an hour ago
I remember seeing him hit that buzzer beater against Toronto which IMO was the peak of Linsanity. Man how the tables have turned.

Klay gets 30 points in 3 quarters and has to go down. That is just... unfair. Man was having the most important game of his life.
[–]NBA trinityolivas 714 points an hour ago
Klay legit just proved he is worth the absolute max fucking contract for any team. Dude is going to the bank this summer
[–]Heat Number333 5833 points 2 hours ago
Stephen Curry's last shot in the Oracle is missing a game-winning 3-pointer to lose the championship.
Sports are a cruel bitch, man.
[–]Lakers Apisit100 2972 points 2 hours ago
Props to the Warriors, they played their hearts out.
[–]yockobird 223 points an hour ago
No double digit leads the whole night, every big shot was answered with another big shot. Tense until the final 0.0 and then tense again. Exceptional game.
If I had to pick a single thing that killed the Warriors tonight -- other than losing Klay, of course -- their free throw shooting. Pick another, their turnovers.
Raptors did an unbelievable job containing Curry. Seemed like he only had two or three open looks the whole night, and defensively overall, the Raptors just never seemed to tire, where the Warriors absolutely did lapse on more than a couple occasions.
Amazing fight from GSW though, given the injury situation, this game could have just as easily been a slaughter.
I was surprised how relatively quiet Kawhi was all night, he had okay numbers but didn't really have many big plays or moments. Curry as well, to some extent.
Basketball is good
[–]Cavaliers Bandwagon IamBrazilian_AMA 6367 points 2 hours ago
Major props to the warriors here, they fought tooth and nail this series. Unfortunately that they got dismantled by injuries.
The Toronto Raptors maintain a 100% win rate at away games in NBA Finals
[–][GSW] Stephen Curry stepontee 231 points 2 hours ago*
What a gritty battle between two heavyweights. Ever possession felt so important and both teams were playing so physical and giving it there all out there, you could tell how exhausted everyone looked. Even though we lost, couldn’t be more proud of how we played. Please be okay Klay
[–]Warriors Banskyi 438 points 2 hours ago*
Good series, no complaints. Well played Toronto, grats on the ship
We are lucky enough to have seen our team be healthy (relatively) for multiple championships. Things just didn’t go our way and i can’t fault our guys for their effort.
[–][PHI] Robert Covingtonsjekky 285 points 2 hours ago*
Kyle Lowry and FVV were incredible this game. Van Vleet kept his team going in the 4th when it got really nervous.
I think that was a great series. Full of storylines, star players, and some really excellent drama, especially late in the games. Would have been perfect had it went to 7 but still a brilliant finals series and a really good play offs overall imo.
Congratulations to the Raptors. One of the best individual play off runs of all time - along with a quadruple doink - gets it done. It might feel a bit strange calling the Raptors champions for a wee while.
Now the real fun begins

[–]Warriors TheDivineBeard 100 points an hour ago
If he made one of those free throws it goes to OT potentially.
[–]eatenbrownie 67 points an hour ago
I feel like the Warriors left so many points on the free throw line, between Iggy and Cousins. Definitely could have won if even a few of those had dropped.
[–]Pigritantes 68 points an hour ago
I always feel bad for Bill Russell
They drag him out on stage, announce the award named in his honor, and then they don't even let him hand it off
When he reached for it and they snatched it away I just felt so bad
[–]Knicks DrSkittles24 58 points an hour ago
These espn questions are disgusting
[–]JoeFalcone26 617 points an hour ago
Doris Burks fuckin questions are making things so awkward. Hit Leonard with a question about what team he’s playing with next? He just won the chip why are we asking dumb questions rn. Asking Lowry about Derozen? Can we watch these guys enjoy their championship and not have to watch them dodge these questions they have to dodge all year? Pathetic shit imo (kinda ranting sorry).
[–]ElPlywood 49 points an hour ago
My god don't bring Demar into this what the FUCK that's not appropriate
